Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BETA-TT8 is a multi-target small molecule developed by Filamon for the treatment of retinal vascular diseases, specifically wet age-related macular degeneration (wet AMD) and diabetic macular oedema (DME). Administered as a topical ocular formulation (eye drops), it is designed to provide a non-invasive alternative to standard-of-care intravitreal injections. The drug's mechanism of action involves the simultaneous inhibition of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), cell adhesion molecules (VCAM-1, ICAM-1), and a broad range of pro-inflammatory cytokines and chemokines, including IL-6, IL-1b, CXCL-1, CXCL-3, CXCL-8, and CCL-20. By targeting both the angiogenic and inflammatory components of these diseases, BETA-TT8 aims to reduce neovascularization and vascular leakage. It is currently in the IND-enabling phase of development, supported by funding from the Australian Government.
